Third International Conference on Invincible Defense: Raising Military Strength to Invincibility through Creation of the Maharishi Prevention Wing in the MilitaryPage 10: Scientific Validation of the Practical Programs of Maharishi's Absolute Theory of Defense
More than 500 scientific research studies conducted at over 200 universities and research institutions in 30 countries have documented the profound individual and social benefits that will he realized by implementing Maharishi's Absolute Theory of Defense through a Prevention Wing in the military. These benefits are uniquely holistic in that all aspects of life benefit—mind, body, behavior, and society as a whole. This is because the technology of Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi Program, which includes Yogic Flying, operates from the level of the Unified Field of Natural Law, the field of pure consciousness, which nourishes and promotes the evolution of all of existence. Individual Benefits for Participants in the Prevention Wing of the MilitaryScientific research demonstrates that the individuals who participate in the prevention wing of the military will grow in alertness and clarity of mind, good health, effectiveness of behavior, and ability to recover from stress. The following are sample research findings (scientific journal references are given below this page): Increased Alertness and Clarity of Mind:
Improved Health:
Improved Social Behavior Among Veterans of Military Service:
Creating Invincibility for the Nation: Collective Benefits of the Prevention Wing of the Military for the Nation and WorldForty scientific studies have consistently demonstrated that a sufficient-sized group of participants in Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi Program create an influence of coherence and integration in the whole society, known as the Maharishi Effect. These research studies, published in major research journals in the behavioral and social sciences, have used the most rigourous research methods and statistical procedures available in the social sciences. The Maharishi Effect in society is parallel to the Meissner Effect in physics—an influence of internal coherence is created in society, on the basis of which the society becomes invulnerable to disordering influences and creates an influence of harmony that extends beyond its borders. The following are sample findings of research on the Maharishi Effect that demonstrate this influence within the nation and outside its borders: Increased Coherence—Internal Order—in the Nation:
Resistance to External Disorder—Preventing the Birth of an Enemy:
Sample Studies Demonstrating Increased Coherence Within the NationStudies on the Maharishi Effect repeatedly demonstrate that the rate of civil crime and violence within society drops significantly immediately after a group of experts in Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi Program, exceeding the square root of one percent of the population, is brought together for twice daily practice. Research also shows that during periods in which the number of experts in Maharishi's TM-Sidhi Program is sufficient to create the Maharishi Effect, economic indicators improve, as measured by such variables as reduced inflation and unemployment; and quality of life improves, as demonstrated by studies that combine many social variables into one overall quality of life index (see chart above). Sample Studies Documenting Reduction of Regional and International ConflictIn 1978 Maharishi implemented a 'World Peace Project', in which 1400 experts went to five trouble-spot regions (Southeast Asia, Middle East, Iran, Zimbabwe [then Rhodesia], and Nicaragua) to reduce violence through collective practice of the TM-Sidhi Programme. An extensive analysis of international relations and conflict data from an independent research group (the Conflict and Peace Data Bank of the University of Maryland) showed that during the three months of the project there was a significant reduction of hostile acts and increase in co-operative events in these trouble-spots. A similar significant improvement was also found world-wide, since these were the main locations of regional and international conflict at the time.
Research studies have also repeatedly confirmed the Global Maharishi Effect. During periods of ten days to three weeks in which the number of TM-Sidhi Programme Yogic Flyers gathered together approached or exceeded the square root of one percent of the world's population—about 7000 people—there was an immediate improvement in global social trends, including improved international relations and reduced incidence of terrorism (see chart above).
