For many years, Dr. Hagelin has been researching the most up-to-date scientific knowledge of how to access the Unified Field—the fundamental, universal field of peace that lies deep within the consciousness of everyone—in order to generate a global influence of harmony and coherence through collective meditation and other peace-creating technologies.
On the basis of this research, the Institute is now spearheading a major international peace initiative that has already raised millions of dollars to establish a University of World Peace, with branch campuses planned worldwide. Designed to counterbalance the global proliferation of military academies and graduate war colleges, the University of World Peace is dedicated solely to the prevention of war and the promotion of peace. It will create a new profession in the world—that of professional peacemaker.
As part of this educational initiative, the Institute is now organizing groups of thousands of people to practice the University’s proven peace technologies together in order to diffuse the acute ethnic, religious, and political tensions that fuel terrorism and war—and thereby to generate a powerful, physical influence of peace in the world. The influence of these rapidly expanding groups underlies and supports the recent global upsurge of peace activism and the resistance to war by governments worldwide.
One such group of 1600 peace-creating experts is now being established at America’s first branch campus of the University of World Peace, located in the heartland of America in Maharishi Vedic City near Fairfield, Iowa. This project is the first phase in creating a permanent 8000 group for North America. Institute administrative directors Kingsley and Leslie Brooks are working closely with The Honorable Dr. Robert Wynne, mayor of Maharishi Vedic City, to fundraise and to coordinate efforts for this $19.5 million project. Plans for the first new buildings of the University of World Peace are well under way, and as soon as construction has been completed, the first group of experts will take occupancy and begin creating an indom-itable influence of peace.
