His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who 50 years ago introduced his Transcendental Meditation program to reduce individual stress, will introduce his meditation-based solution to urban stress and international conflict during a news conference at the Plaza Hotel, Le Petit Trianon Room, in New York City on Friday, October 24, 11:00 a.m.

Maharishi will speak live via satellite from Holland, and the press conference will be broadcast live via satellite and Internet webcast at www.mou.org.

Oscar-nominated film director David Lynch and award-winning choreographer Robert La Fosse will join top business leaders during the news conference to launch a $1 billion drive to build 100 Peace Palaces and a University of World Peace in the United States.

The press conference will be hosted by the US Peace Government, which promotes prevention-oriented solutions to national problems, and its founding president Dr. John Hagelin, renowned quantum physicist and Natural Law/Reform Party presidential candidate in 2000.

Designs for Peace Palaces in Manhattan and Long Island will be unveiled during the event.

Dr. Hagelin says that Peace Palaces will serve as “oases of peace” for America’s stress-ridden cities. Each Peace Palace will provide a center for 100 peace-creating meditation experts who will reduce societal stress and promote coherence nationwide. The Peace Palaces will also offer prevention-oriented community outreach programs in businesses, schools, hospitals, and prisons.

The news conference will be first time Maharishi has addressed the New York press in 25 years. Transcendental Meditation is practiced by six million people of all ages and religions and is prescribed by medical doctors worldwide to reduce heart disease, hypertension, and stroke. The National Institutes of Health have granted over $20 million to study the benefits of TM on cardiovascular disease. Transcendental Meditation is also used in society as a whole to reduce crime, violence, and conflict.
