Film Director David Lynch, US Peace Government President Dr. John Hagelin Draw SRO Crowd at American University

More than 300 enthusiastic students—a standing-room-only crowd—packed American University’s Kay Life Spiritual Center in Washington, D.C., on November 12 for a special forum entitled “Creating Peace” featuring award-winning film director David Lynch and Institute director Dr. John Hagelin. The forum was cosponsored by the University’s Department of Performing Arts and the Society for Peace and Conflict Resolution.

The two speakers explored a practical, innovative approach to preventing social violence, terrorism and war, and to promoting peace and harmony throughout the world. For an excellent article about the forum in The Eagle, American University’s student newspaper, click here.

The students at the forum were excited by the possibility of creating peace through this scientifically proven approach and were eager to participate. “The feeling in the room was akin to the peace rallies of the 1970s, when another generation of students rose together to oppose war and create peace,” said one observer who attended the forum.

Prior to the American University forum, Dr. Hagelin and Mr. Lynch held a series of press briefings at the US Peace Government National Offices, The Jefferson, 1200 16th Street, NW, in Washington. They gave 20 in-depth interviews to media representatives from around the world, including international press, radio, and television crews.

“Billions of people are deeply concerned about the future of the world,” Dr. Hagelin said. “The US Peace Government is filling this void by offering a proven program to create permanent world peace. We are establishing a University of World Peace with 8,000 peace-creating students in America—and working with leaders of the Peace Government in 108 countries to establish Universities of World Peace with 1,000 to 2,000 peace-creating students throughout the world.”
